College can be a place of vast development or perpetual debt.

Follow The Herd

You have probably seen a comic about Lemmings all jumping off a cliff if not here is one below.

Tundra Comic

Whenever I see this comic I wonder why they put Lemmings on it and not humans.

This is the sad hard truth.

About 70% of students after high school attend college.

For a private college, the average tuition is 36,801 dollars according to

That is a lot of money, that amount of money can be used in so many different ways.

Such as starting your own business, trading stocks, and buying real estate.

Lots of people I know, that have been in college for a whole year, still do not know what they are going to get a degree in.

What a waste of time and money.

Starting A Business

My parents were friends with a student who did not go to college after high school and is now a very successful business owner.

Though my parents have their own business, their friend immediately jumped at the opportunity.

Now if you had them side by side and asked them what they do not like about starting their business I know my parents would say their student debt has kept them away from some of their goals.

On the other hand, the other business owner probably didn’t think he would do anything differently.

Repeat Or Deplete

The first four years of college are a repeat of high school.

“Core Classes”

They teach you math, english, science, etc..

And if you don’t take them you will probably forget them.

This is not entirely true.

You may forget some but not enough to have to take four years worth of classes for them.

Why You Should Go To College

I just finished making my case against college now I’m going to tell you why to go.

If you need a degree for the career you want to go in, go and get it.

It is important to like what you do.

The last thing I need to tell you is always go to college with a plan not just because your peers are going.

Tell me if you have gone to college and/or if you have any advice for people that are going to college.

  1. If i end up going to college, i would try to get a baseball scholarship and take engineering

  2. This is a great article. In my day college was just assumed that you would go or you were a failure. Now there are so many more options: Trade schools, online classes… In my case, I did go to college and got a degree in Elementary Education. But I do wish they could cut out a lot of the nonsense classes. I also believe that they need to lower the cost of colleges. It’s out of control!! If you are interested in college you need to get as many Scholarships as possible!! Athletic scholarships are harder to get and there is a low percentage of kids that play after high school. Like I said there are more options available now, start your searching early and don’t be a Lemming!
    Thanks Austin for this article
