How do inventors come up with the ideas that make our lives easier? They take everyday routines that we don’t even notice and BOOM, we can’t live without it. One example is monks from the Middle Ages. They wanted to fulfill the obligation of Psalm 63:6, “When I remember thee upon my bed and meditate on thee in the night watches,” they needed a reliable way to awaken each night for monastic prayers. They observed a problem and from that evolved the modern-day clock all because of a bunch of monks.
